Government and Permitting

All plans and specifications for both Bingen Point Business Park and Dallesport Industrial Park are reviewed by the Port Commission which is governed by Klickitat County zoning ordinances. 

Both the Bingen Point Business Park and Dallesport Industrial Park are within the unincorporated areas of Klickitat County and are not under the jurisdiction of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The purpose of the National Scenic Area Act is to protect and provide for the enhancement of the scenic, cultural, recreational and natural resources of the Gorge; and to protect and support the economy of the Columbia River Gorge area by encouraging growth to occur in existing urban areas and by allowing future economic development. Thirteen Oregon and Washington communities within the National Scenic Area are designated as Urban Areas. These areas are exempt from the land-use regulation aspects of the legislation, and are the focus of most economic development activities implementating the second purpose of the Act.
