Flooding at Bingen Point in 1997. During construction of the Bingen Wastewater Treatment Plant, an accident cut power to the Port's lake pumps, rendering them inoperable for an extended period of time. That situation, combined with unusually heavy rains and a rapid melt of above-average snow accumulations resulted in significant flooding in the Port's Bingen Lake area. The roof of the original pump house can be seen just above the surface and the rocks forming the retaining wall along the southern boundary of Parcel 1 can barely be seen running horizontally through the center of the picture. The pumps were damaged beyond repair and a new pump house to the west was constructed in ?.
