TitleConstruction of the Dock Road grade-separated railroad crossing
DateOctober 1982
PerspectiveFacing East

Cranes place the first supporting girder in place over the BNSF (fka Spokane, Portland & Seattle and, later, Burlington Northern) main line. The switch to the industrial park spur can be seen at the far lower left while the eastern switch to the waterfront siding appears in the middle of the photograph near the bottom (the eastern switch was later removed, leaving the western switch the only way to access the waterfront siding). The overpass and its approaches were funded as part of the final phase (Phase 5) of the $2.078 million EDA grant awarded to the Port in 1969/1970. The overpass was constructed by Kniesteadt and Sons for $85,384 and paving of the dock and the bridge approaches was completed by Mid-Columbia Paving for $212,848.
