Employment

The number of residents of Klickitat County that are part of the labor force and how many of them are employed in non-farm jobs. A larger gap between the size of the labor pool and the number of employed equals a greater number of unemployed. Thus, a smaller difference between these figures is better. To improve these numbers, the growth in new employment opportunities must outpace the growth in the labor force. Over the long term, an increase in births or immigration from other counties or states, in the absence equivalent growth in available jobs, will tend to push the unemployment rate upwards.
